Internationally educated and thinking of becoming BC Notary?

With the introduction of the International Credential Recognition Act, the Society is seeing an increase in interest and applications from internationally educated and regulated professionals.  

We wish to be open and transparent with all individuals who are considering making an application. 

The scope of practice of Notary Public in BC is unique in common law countries. The practice is similar to that of a solicitor with specific practice requirements related to the laws of Canada and British Columbia. 

Becoming a Notary Public in BC is not easy and requires significant study and the successful completion of statutory examinations. 

If you are a lawyer from another country, it is strongly recommended that you consider making application through the National Committee on Accreditation.
