Society of Notaries Public of BC appoints Max Logan as Executive Director and CEO

During its 100th anniversary year, the Society welcomes new leadership as it enters its next century of service to British Columbians.

The Society of Notaries Public of British Columbia has appointed Max Logan as Executive Director and CEO, effective July 1, 2026, as the 100-year-old organization enters a significant period of change in B.C.’s legal and regulatory landscape.

“Max brings a unique background in regulatory change, governance and organizational transformation that is especially well-suited to this moment in the Society’s history,” said Vicki Van As, Chair of the Board. “As we mark our centennial and prepare for the next chapter of the profession, the Board is confident Max has the expertise and steady leadership needed to help guide the Society through this transitional period.”

Max brings more than 25 years of senior leadership experience across strategy, governance, operations, stakeholder engagement and organizational change. He previously held executive roles with SkilledTradesBC and Engineers and Geoscientists BC, where he helped lead both organizations through major legislative, regulatory and operational transitions.

His appointment follows the retirement of John Mayr, who served as Executive Director and CEO until the end of June.

“I am honoured to join the Society at such an important time,” said Logan. “Notaries play a meaningful role in communities across British Columbia, and I look forward to working with the Board, staff, members and stakeholders as the Society enters its next century.”

For 100 years, B.C. notaries have provided trusted legal services during some of the most important moments in people’s lives, from real estate transactions to personal planning and business matters. As the Society enters its second century, it remains focused on serving the public interest and ensuring notaries continue to play an essential role in B.C.’s legal ecosystem.
